Genie the cartoon character is a blue, larger than life, floating and smoking jinni capable of producing almost anything she wishes, making her the most powerful character in all of fiction. She was originated in the 1992 Disney film Aladdin, who is usually her main media appearance, though she has also appeared in animated television series and the direct-to-video sequel The Return of Jafar. Genie is not to be confused with the genies of Arabian mythology, as she is a fictional character created by Disney. While she is not a classical genie, she is referred to as a "jinni" in Aladdin (the term is used in the film's lyrics and its Broadway adaptation).
Genie's biggest influence was from his big sister, Jasmine. The two of them liked to complain about the same things.
